Lightweight design of a clamp band joint via a constrained sequential approximate optimization method in the irregular design domain

The clamp band joint (CBJ) is a multi-component and complex device for connecting separating satellites from launch vehicles. In this article, the pre-tightening connection process are analysed sequentially through an implicit–explicit calculation method. Because of time-consuming nonlinear analysis, constrained sequential approximate optimization (CSAO) method in irregular design domain proposed lightweight CBJs. A novel space-filling non-collapsing sampling adopted to address inefficiency conventional experimental designs domain, while exploration exploitation strategies balanced global local approximation accuracy. Finally, comparison with traditional shows that can search optimum feasible region more efficiently. Besides, compared initial design, optimized structure improved stiffness by 56.7% reduced weight 8.3%.
